Privacy Policy
A local-first approach to author content, account access, licensing, and external services.
This policy explains how Chapter Forge handles information when you use the browser extension.
Effective Date: October 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Chapter Forge — Author Studio (“Chapter Forge”), developed and operated by Drex Outdoors LLC d/b/a Rexroad Technologies (“Rexroad Technologies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use the Chapter Forge browser extension.
Chapter Forge is an authoring and formatting tool designed to help writers create, organize, format, and export story content, system elements, character information, visual cards, and related publishing materials.
Our goal is to keep author content local whenever possible. Chapter Forge does not upload your manuscripts, stories, chapters, components, spreadsheets, or uploaded images to Rexroad Technologies as part of normal use.
1. Information Chapter Forge Handles
Author Content and Workspace Data
Chapter Forge processes information you create or import into the extension, including story and chapter text, character information, system elements, components, saved designs, spreadsheet data, uploaded images, preferences, palettes, and other author-created content.
This information is stored locally within your browser profile.
Chapter Forge does not automatically transmit this author content to Rexroad Technologies, ExtensionPay, Stripe, or an AI service.
Chapter Forge does not use your author content to train artificial intelligence systems or provide AI-generated writing.
Account and Licensing Information
Chapter Forge uses ExtensionPay to provide Free, Trial, and Pro account functionality.
ExtensionPay may provide Chapter Forge with account-related information such as your email address, whether your account has Pro access, your subscription plan, your trial start date, and related account or entitlement information.
The ExtensionPay software also uses an installation or account token to identify the extension installation and verify account status.
Chapter Forge uses this information only to provide account functions such as verifying Pro access, restoring an existing purchase, starting or verifying a trial, and managing subscription status.
Your ExtensionPay email address is not added to your stories, exported content, images, or normal diagnostic information.
Payment Information
Paid Chapter Forge Pro subscriptions are handled through ExtensionPay and external payment processing services such as Stripe.
Payment-card information is entered on the external payment provider’s website.
Chapter Forge itself does not receive, read, or store your full credit-card number, card security code, or other complete payment-card credentials.
Chapter Forge may receive subscription-related information such as whether your account is paid and which subscription plan is active.
External Images and Links
Chapter Forge allows users to choose hosted image URLs and create or open external links.
When you choose to load an image from an external website or open an external link, your browser communicates directly with that third-party website. That website may receive normal network information such as your IP address and information normally included in a web request.
Chapter Forge does not automatically attach your manuscript or project data to these requests.
You control which external URLs you choose to use.
2. How Information Is Used
Chapter Forge uses information only as necessary to provide its authoring, formatting, export, account, licensing, backup, and support-related features.
Local author content is used to display, edit, save, format, render, export, back up, and restore the projects you create.
Account and licensing information is used to determine whether Chapter Forge should provide Free, Trial, or Pro functionality and to help restore or manage an existing account.
Chapter Forge does not use your author content or account information for behavioral advertising, interest-based advertising, advertising profiles, or unrelated marketing analytics.
Chapter Forge does not include analytics or behavioral tracking systems that monitor how you write or use the application.
4. Local Storage and Browser Storage
Chapter Forge stores most author workspace information locally in your browser.
This can include stories, chapters, components, preferences, saved designs, recovery information, spreadsheet-related data, and other workspace information.
Chapter Forge also maintains limited licensing information in Chrome extension storage, such as verified paid status, subscription-plan information where available, confirmed trial timing, and the time of the most recent successful account verification.
A short-lived browser-session marker may also be used when you return from an ExtensionPay account, login, trial, or payment page so Chapter Forge can refresh your account status.
ExtensionPay may store its own installation token and account response in Chrome extension storage. Where Chrome Sync is available and enabled, some ExtensionPay account information may be synchronized by Chrome between browsers associated with your Chrome profile.
Chapter Forge does not place your manuscript or normal author workspace into Chrome Sync through its ExtensionPay account system.
5. Retention and Deletion
Author workspace information remains in the browser profile where Chapter Forge is installed until you edit or remove that information, clear the applicable browser or extension data, or uninstall the extension.
Files you intentionally download, including workspace backups, PNG images, HTML files, or other exported files, remain wherever you saved them on your device and are not removed automatically if Chapter Forge is uninstalled.
Chapter Forge maintains only the limited account-status information necessary to operate its licensing and account features.
Information maintained by ExtensionPay, Stripe, or other third-party service providers may be retained according to those providers’ own policies and legal requirements. Rexroad Technologies does not control those third-party retention periods.
We strongly recommend keeping independent workspace backups of important Chapter Forge projects.
6. Security
Chapter Forge is designed to minimize unnecessary transmission of author data.
Account and licensing communications between the extension and ExtensionPay use secure HTTPS connections.
Executable Chapter Forge code is packaged with the extension and is not downloaded remotely into the extension during normal operation.
If you choose to use an external image or link that uses an unencrypted HTTP address, that third-party request may not receive the protections provided by HTTPS. We recommend using HTTPS links whenever possible.
No security system can guarantee absolute security, but Chapter Forge is designed to limit the amount of information transmitted outside the browser and to use narrowly scoped browser permissions.
7. Browser Permissions
Chapter Forge requests only the Chrome permissions needed for its current features.
The Side Panel permission allows Chapter Forge to provide its primary authoring interface in Chrome’s side panel.
The Clipboard Write permission allows Chapter Forge to copy generated HTML, formatted content, images, accessible text, or diagnostic information when you explicitly choose a Copy function.
The Downloads permission allows Chapter Forge to save user-requested files such as workspace backups and generated exports.
The Storage permission is used for ExtensionPay account and installation information, verified entitlement status, and temporary account-return information.
Chapter Forge does not request access to your browsing history, cookies, arbitrary open tabs, geolocation, or all websites you visit.
8. Information Chapter Forge Does Not Collect for Tracking
Chapter Forge does not include functionality designed to collect your browsing history.
Chapter Forge does not use the Chrome browsing-history API.
Chapter Forge does not use geolocation to determine your physical location.
Chapter Forge does not record your keystrokes for analytics or tracking.
Chapter Forge does not use session-recording software.
Chapter Forge does not use behavioral analytics or advertising trackers.
Chapter Forge does not send your manuscript, spreadsheet content, uploaded images, or normal author workspace to Rexroad Technologies for monitoring or analysis.
Some normal browser events, such as focus, visibility, or a user returning to the Chapter Forge interface, may be used locally to determine when the extension should refresh ExtensionPay account status. The contents of your typing are not recorded or transmitted as part of that process.
9. Human Access to Author Content
Rexroad Technologies does not routinely receive or review the author content stored in your Chapter Forge workspace because that content remains local to your browser during normal use.
We would only receive author content if you deliberately choose to provide it to us, such as by sending a screenshot, backup file, text sample, or other information while requesting technical support.
Any information you voluntarily provide for support may be reviewed only as necessary to respond to your request, maintain security, comply with applicable law, or address another purpose you specifically authorized.
10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Chapter Forge uses information obtained through Chrome extension functionality only to provide and improve Chapter Forge’s user-facing authoring, export, account, licensing, backup, and support features.
User data is not transferred for personalized advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness decisions, or unrelated data-broker purposes.
Rexroad Technologies does not allow routine human review of user data obtained through Chapter Forge except when the user has specifically requested support or provided consent, when access is necessary for security purposes, or when required by applicable law.
Our use of information is intended to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
11. Your Choices
You control the author content you create and store in Chapter Forge.
You may edit or delete your projects, export backups, remove downloaded files from your own device, discontinue use of external hosted images, or uninstall Chapter Forge.
You may manage Chapter Forge Pro subscription and account functions through the ExtensionPay account and subscription tools provided from within Chapter Forge.
If you contact Rexroad Technologies for support and provide personal information or project material, you may ask us to stop using information that is no longer needed for your support request, subject to applicable legal, security, and recordkeeping requirements.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Chapter Forge features, account systems, service providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.
When the policy is updated, the Effective Date at the top of this page will be revised.
Material changes to how Chapter Forge handles user information will be reflected in the privacy policy and, where required, in the Chrome Web Store disclosures or Chapter Forge interface.
